PatchPitch is a micro-crowdfunding service specifically tailored for open source software.
We love open source and we use open source daily. Being open source users, as others like us out there will know, this is not for the faint-hearted. Often things are broken. There's that feature that would be really neat that's not there. There's that annoying bug that you need to workaround, or try to ignore. Forums are great - lots of people who've gone through your pain before you - but not always. Sometimes you're the first. The frustration of having a difficult bug to fix - that's well documented and repeatable, but the development community doesn't pick it up for a long time, or at all - perhaps it's on the fringe of the use cases out there. Finally some of us who have the skills, pull our finger out and start coding to address some of the wrongs. We get our hands dirty, we submit a few patch fixes. Some of us get the patches reviewed and accepted. Others of us have patches languishing due to any number of factors. It's life.
We want to solve this problem.
We think the solution lies in the crowd.
The website is still in active development, hoping to be ready for beta trials soon. In the meantime, complete our survey, or if you'd like to find out more, drop us a line using the contact form below.
